In 2009, I downloaded a spreadsheet with the 1001 books you must read before you die. I'm not always a fan of these types of lists, because everyone has a different set ideals as to what is something one MUST read.
I decided for 2011, to attempt to read a few books off the list. I may not hold myself to this list, because when I go to the library, I tend to go "Oh shiny cover let me borrow you" and not get anything I went to the library for.
I am a multi-genre reader. There I said it. I'll read almost anything if it keeps my interest.
